Teddy Bear Day
Excitement was in the air as the children entered the classroom with their teddy bears. We sorted by color and size and used the information to create concrete and picture graphs.
Hanukkah Math Stories
We had fun this week during math time! We have been learning addition and subtraction. The children created their own Hanukkah math stories.
Enjoy!
Skype with an Author
The grade one classes Skyped with the author Natasha Wing. She read us her story, “The Night Before Hanukkah.” The children were so excited and they asked fabulous questions about the writing process.
50th Day of School
Today we celebrated the 50th day of school. Zero the Hero came for a visit with a fun activity. We made necklaces with 50 beads! The children chose 5 different beads, and put 10 of these beads on their necklaces. They then counted by 10 to 50. Fun was had by all!
Math Fun
Welcome to 1A
The boys and girls look fabulous in their uniforms. We have been adjusting to class routines. We started working in our books, “100 Things About Me.” I am encouraging the students to take risks when they write. We are talking a lot about learning from our mistakes. I am looking forward to a terrific year in grade one!
